Leaving the smokies

Heading South we reach a new state: Georgia. The landscape North of Georgia is still of preserved forests, and the mountains slowly get lower. We climb up the highest peak of the state for a 360° view. Brasstown bald reaches 1458 metres high allowing us to get some fresh air after a steep walk. The peak is called a bald because it is shaved of vegetation. It isn’t known why but there are two theories to it: it’s either a natural phenomenon or humans (natives or colons) removed the trees to clear the view.

As you can see in the pictures the clouds were threatening us with rain, and it rained just after we got down. We drove to Atlanta and stopped at a recreation center for some exercise (and a nice shower) before doing some work at Starbucks.
