In Sioux County
We leave the California, Oregon, Mormon and Pony Express historic trails to head North. We drive through the beautiful Sioux county and end up in Fort Robinson state park. The old army fort as been reconverted as a recreation area, the buildings can be rented and the stables are back in use for horse riding. There’s also a little herd of buffalos in the park boundary. We continue driving and finish the day in Chadron where we visit the museum of fur trade. Fun fact, in 1800 the skin of a large buck deer was one dollar, the term “buck” for a dollar entered the American language at that time.
