In Badlands
I can’t even begin to describe the day we spent in Badlands, it was stunning. The landscape is unique and the changing weather enhanced our experience. As the sun went down the wildlife came out: big horn sheep, coyote, prairie dogs, and hundreds of bison. We got stuck on the road by a herd of bison, we had to slowly get the alpha male, which was right in the middle, to step on the shoulder, then they all followed. Fun fact, when the french pioneers discovered the rough area they complained and called it “Les mauvaises terres à traverser”, meaning the bad lands to cross.
